Support Public Power - Community Choice Aggregation

After the San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed Community Choice Aggregation 9-2 on Tuesday adopting a plan to put San Francisco on the way towards energy independence by financing a 360 MW solar network and making the community's power 51% renewable by 2017, rumors have circulated that Mayor Gavin Newsom is threatening to veto the Plan.

Mayor Newsom has repeatedly promised his support over the last two years, and we have done everything necessary to accommodate his office, including changing the legislation to address his concerns and moving a press conference twice at his request. It is UNACCEPTABLE that after all that has been done to work with Mayor Newsom, and after all the time he's promised his support, that he is considering going back on his word and vetoing the legislation.

Not to say that we haven't had reason to be worried. For awhile now he's been running around town for various press conferences touting "new relationships" formed with PiG&E... That lovely utility monopoly that does nothing but sit around spending rate-payer money on nuclear power and dirty energy while feeding us PR garbage that tells us what we should do to be more Green.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!! The mayor has ten days to veto this policy which passed on the 20th of June. Therefore we need to be barraging his office by phone, email or fax until until the 1st of July. See below for how you can contact the mayor.

PLEASE TAKE 2 MINUTES OUT OF YOUR DAY TO CONTACT THE MAYOR and let him know that San Francisco demands Community Choice Energy. We DO NOT WANT a dirty energy monopoly - PiG&E - to pollute our city, our neighborhoods and our anymore.
